What is EHS?

EHS is about helping people develop a deep personal transformative relationship with Jesus Christ out of which they serve the world. EHS is a solution to the problem of shallow Christianity and people not changing. EHS recovers biblical truths overlooked in Western culture (e.g. the gift of limits, loss and grief, brokenness and vulnerability). EHS enables leaders to serve both long-term and joyfully out of a deep interior life with Christ.                                                                    We as leaders cannot give what we do not possess. EHS seeks to equip leaders to serve out a cup that overflows with the love of God. EHS is a long-term, missional spirituality. Our aim is to connect people deeply to Jesus, themselves, and each other in order to accomplish. Read more.

A Leader’s Prayer

Let nothing disturb you,Nothing frighten you;All things are passing;God never changes;Patient endurance attains all things;Whoever possesses God is wanting in nothing;God alone suffices. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)

What Makes a Leader Christian?

We can learn many things from secular sources about leadership. Yet Christian leadership is different. 1. Our leadership is ultimately about pointing people to Jesus. 2. Our leadership aims to equip people to become the living presence of God in the world. 3. Our marriage and singleness are calls to be a living sign and wonder of His love to the world. 4. Our plans flow out of a deep dependence and communion with God. 5. Our identity and authority emerge from a different foundation. 6. We lead out of our brokenness. What might you add?

Wonder

Wonder is one of the most important qualities we can cultivate as leaders. It is also one of the most difficult, especially amides the daily pressures and demands of life. A very gifted, godly, friend of mine, after twenty-one years of  “successfully” pastoring a mega-church, recently resigned and decided to pursue a quieter, more reflective life. He writes about his more recent learnings in a wonderful, little book called, Thursdays with Naomi. In it, he notes the learning that have emerged out of his time spent on Thursdays with his little granddaughter, Naomi. Children, like God he notes, have an amazing ability to experience the joy of every thing in each and every moment. G.K. Chesterton, in his book Orthodoxy, writes: It is possible that God says every morning, “Do it again” to the sun; and every evening, “Do it again” to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike, it may. Read more.
